What can cause call failure to long distance or mobile destination

The setup time for a call to a long distance or mobile destination can be long an can cause a failure. This failure can be overcome by increasing the T310 timer. The value of this timer is usually 10 seconds. Cisco recommends a value of 60000 m seconds.

This failure can be identified by the output of the IOS debug isdn q931 output.

Debug isdn q931 message:
ISDN Se3/0:15: TX -> DISCONNECT pd = 8 callref = 0x000E
Cause i = 0x80E6 - Recovery on timer expiry

To change the T310 time on an ios gateway, issue the following command:

Interface serial3/0:15
Isdn t310 60000

If the call handling is done by a Cisco call manager, the T310 timer can be changed under service parameters.
